New NAN boss to rebrand agency
By Salisu Sani-Idris
Malam Ali Muhammad Ali, the new Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), has pledged to rebrand the agency’s operations to enable it maintain its prime place on the African continent.
Ali made the pledge during his maiden meeting with the management and staff of the agency on Tuesday in Abuja.
Ali, who noted that the agency was a leading news content provider in Africa, said that its workforce was quite inspiring given its reputation over the years.
He assured the workers that he would hold regular interactive meetings with them so as to tap everyone’s potential.
He said that NAN had set an enviable standard for others to follow.
“As a young reporter myself, the dream was to work in NAN.
“I see us rebranding NAN. I see us taking NAN to a place that everyone of us will be proud to part of.
“I want to ensure that when I exit from NAN, people will hail me. Don’t hail me now. Hail me when I’m leaving. I pray to God to leave in grace.
“I pray that when I am leaving, you will all assemble here and say ‘Ali you have your best’, I will then turn around and say you guys did the work not me. Mine is to identify the vision.
“That vision is encapsulated in the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu; we will work collectively to attain it.”
Ali pledged full support to editorial operations.
“The main pillar is the Editorial Department. Other departments are providing support services and shall be given their due recognition.
“The primary focus of any media organisation is news gathering. If we don’t gather news, if we don’t provide news, we will be out of business.
The managing director solicited the cooperation of the agency’s workers toward realising his vision.
He promised to run an all-inclusive administration
“I shall operate an open door policy; I will always be available,” he stated. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
