Alhaji Shehu Abdullahi, the state NHRC Coordinator, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Kano.

He said that 81 of the 106 cases had been treated, while 25 were still pending.

Abdullahi said that 42 out of the cases bordered on women and gender matters, while 25 had to do with family abandonment.

“At international level, the United Nations has set aside 16 days of activism, from Nov.25- Dec.10 every year to eliminate, minimize violence of women and girls in our society.

“Women and girls are more prone and vulnerable to violence in the society,” he said.
