An educationist, Mr Kenneth Imasuagbon on Thursday purchased the Labour Party (LP) nomination form for the Sept.21 Edo governorship election at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.
Speaking at the ceremony, Imasuagbon promised to transform the state to greatness, if given the mandate in the September poll.
“This form means change, positive change, from labour to victory. This from means loyalty and obedience to the party.
“It means that Labour Party is the party that is going to take charge of Edo this year and bring about the necessary change.
:By this form , I am giving yellow card to failed governments and decades of decadence ,I am giving yellow card to other parties and when I become the candidate fully ,I will give red card to them.
“Enough is enough ,we are tired of the suffering, we are tired of the bad roads, we are tired of the security and we are tired of electron rigging,” he said.
Imasuagbon said that he was backed by the strength of the Edo people who bought the nomination form for him to contest.
He promised to follow the footsteps of Gov. Alex Otis of Abia to transform the state.
“I declare by this form that it is the turn of Edo Central to produce Edo governor 2024. I have put in 20 years of hard work ,industry crisscrossing the 192 wards of Edo state 10 times .
“No man knows Edo like I do. No man has fed the poor in Edo like me,the women ,students, nobody has given scholarships like I have done and they people are waiting to pay me back.
” All I can say is that Lbour party should just give me the ticket and by the grace of God it is finished,” Imasuagbon said.
He promised to respect the party’s decision on the choice of primary election, to select the candidate.
“We are about 30 aspirants but then again that’s great and competitive the party is , so its going to be like an olympic let the best win, “he said.
Earlier ,Mr Clement Ojukwu, the LP National Organising Secretary, who presented the nomination form to Imasuagbon assured that the party’s primaries would be free and fair .
Ojukwu added that LP would provide a level playing field for all aspirants so the best could win.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
