Comrade Babangida Isah has been elected the new President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN).
Ogechukwu Nnamene, Chief Returning Officer and Chairman of the Electoral Committee, declared Isah the winner of the keenly contested election at the early hours of Friday in Abuja.
The election, organised under the aegis of the National Transition Committee (NTC), was widely praised by stakeholders for its transparency and fairness.
Isah, from Kogi, secured 243 votes out of 497 accredited votes, narrowly beating his closest rival, Comrade Ahmad Abubakar from Kebbi State, who garnered 228 votes.

The NYCN is a prominent platform for Nigerian youths to engage in leadership, development, and nation-building.
As president, Isah is expected to lead the council in promoting youth empowerment, education, and civic engagement.
In his acceptance speech, Isah thanked the delegates for their support and pledged to work tirelessly for the betterment of Nigerian youth.
According to Isah, his vision for the NYCN is to inspire and motivate young Nigerians to participate in the country’s growth and development.
He emphasised the need for inclusivity, transparency, and accountability in the council’s operations.
Isah said that with his election, the NYCN looked forward to a new era of leadership and progress. (NAN)
