Chinese stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.58 per cent, at 3,486.56 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.81 per cent lower at 14,417.46 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 808 billion yuan (about 125.7 billion U.S. dollars), down from 864.51 billion yuan the previous trading day.
Shares related to the papermaking and crop farming sectors led the gains, while the automobile and military industries led the losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.97 per cent to close at 3,113.26 points.(Xinhua/NAN)
