The Borno Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says it has deployed 311 personnel for special patrol to ensure hitch-free traffic during this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration in the state.
The Sector Commander, Mr Ibrahim Sanusi, made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Maiduguri.
Sanusi said the personnel comprised 68 officers and 243 Marshals.
“About 57 Special Marshals are also involved in the deployment,” Sanusi said.
The sector commander explained that the special patrol during the festive period is to ensure free flow of traffic and road traffic infractions within major towns, particularly Maiduguri.
He said the corps would be partnering with other security agencies in the frontline state.
“Our enforcement targets include checking speeding and dangerous driving, lane indiscipline/route violations, overloading, rickety vehicles, illegal use of SPY number plates,
“Use of alcohol while driving, seat belt/child restrain use violators, and enforcement of COVID-19 protection Act 2021,” Sanusi said.
According to him, all regular and special marshals involved in the patrol have been briefed on the need to be friendly, firm and courteous while dealing with the public in the discharge of their duties.
While wishing the public a happy celebration, the sector commander solicited for support and cooperation to the corps and security agencies. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
