Amb. Ismail Yusuf, the Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Turkey, has promised to promote Nigeria’s interest and further strengthen the existing bilateral relations between the two countries.

Amb. Ismail Yusuf, the Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Turkey, has promised to promote Nigeria’s interest and further strengthen the existing bilateral relations between the two countries.

Yusuf gave the promise when he presented his Letter of Credence to President Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey at the Presidential Palace in Ankara.

Mrs Ibiyemi Robert-Ajiboye, the Minister, Political Matters at the Embassy of Nigeria in Ankara, made this known in a statement to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja.

Yusuf conveyed greetings from President Muhammadu Buhari to Erdogan, expressing gratitude to Turkey’s unflinching support to the nation and its people.

He, however, said that he would use his position as ambassador to further strengthen the bilateral relations between both nations with Nigeria’s interest.

Erdogan in his remarks, offered to assist Nigeria in the fight against terrorism.

He told the ambassador to arrange a meeting between relevant officials from Nigeria and Turkey to work out possible areas of cooperation.

The presentation marked the formal accreditation of Yusuf, who was recently appointed along with other ambassadors and subsequently deployed to various countries.
