By Gami Tadanyigbe
The Minister of State for Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr Hajia Ramat Tijani, has  promised massive infrastructural development for residents of Kwali Area Council by awarding contracts for construction of feeder roads.

Tijani made the promise on Sunday  in Kwali, at the two years in office anniversary of Chairman of Kwali, Mr Danladi Chiya’s book presentation and public lecture entitled; Good Governance and Continuity “A case study of Kwali Area Council.”

The minister said that the FCT Administration had  awarded projects in Kwali which included Yebo-kwali road, Pai-Gunduro road, Yangoji-Chukuku road, Kwali-Dafa koroko road to ease vehicular movement and goods in the area.

Tijani said that she was impressed with the developmental stride of the chairman and has encouraged the FCT Administration to assist in the infrastructural development of the area.

“After seeing some achievements by the chairman, I hope and pray that you will use this opportunity as a launchpad to take good governance to higher heights for the good people of kwali.

“The peculiarity of our recent history has presented us with challenges that call for patience with the government and understanding for a thorough revival of infrastructures that were crucial to performance of our work.

“My administration would continue to ensure collective participation of all the area councils at the grassroots in order to be self-sufficient, through infrastructural development.

“Strong democratic culture capable of turning the Area Councils and FCT in general will be inculcated into the people through the transformation of rural areas,” she said.

She said that the FCT administration had put some necessary reforms in place and will soon start yielding huge results as resources have been harnessed for the development of Kwali Area Council.

However, she appreciated the solidarity from the six area council chairmen that came to support the Kwali Chairman, while calling on the residents to vote for continuity in the coming area council elections.

The minister thanked the chairmen for their cooperation, urging them to always be united and promised that the FCT Administration would support all area councils in infrastructural development.

In his remarks, the Chairman of kwali Area Council, Mr Danladi Chiya, urged all politicians, especially those who lost during the primary elections to shun acts capable of tearing the council apart.

Chiya urged the residents to work for the progress and unity of kwali Area Council irrespective of their political affiliation for the development of the area. (NAN)
