FIBA to hold maiden Arab boxing in Moscow

The International Arab Boxing Federation (FIBA) has announced that the maiden Russian Grand Prix For Arab Boxing and Tournaments would hold from July 27 to Aug. 12 in Moscow.

Hadi Al-Sudairy, Head of FIBA, who made this known in a statement, said that a joint meeting had been held in Moscow to finalise preparations for the tournament.

According to him, the tournament would hold in Moscow, barring any sudden unexpected changes.

He said that the decision followed a joint meeting with a number of senior tournament leaders and Russian officials who discussed preparations for the convening of the International event.

“In the meeting, the preparations for the championship was discussed in the capital, Moscow, from July 27 to August 12.

“The Russian Grand Prix for Arab Boxing will be attended by about 320 international boxers of both sex and from all over the world,’’ the statement said.

Al-Sudairy said that many ministers of youth and sports from Arab and African countries would also participate in the event.

“The Russians has welcomed all the heroes, heroines, journalists, ministers and parliamentarians participating in the tournament, which is mainly aimed at Arab and African rapprochement in many areas,’’ it said. (NAN)
