Gov. Abubakar Sani-Bello of Niger and Chairman, North Central Governor’s Forum, has been conferred with the title of Patron of North Central People’s Forum (NCPF).
A statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Mary Noel-Berje, said the investiture took place at the Government House, Minna when members of the forum visited him on Wednesday.
Speaking at the event, the leader of the delegation, retired Lt.-Gen. Jeremiah Useni, said the conferment was as a result of the governor’s commitment to the security, peace and progress of the North Central zone.
Useni urged the Governor to support the forum’s programmes for the benefit of the people of the state, the zone and the country at large.
He said the NCPF would unite the people of Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Plateau and the Federal Capital Territory.
He added that it would offer the geo-political zone “the opportunity to present a united front to speak on behalf of the zone”.
Useni commended Sani-Bello and all the North Central Governors for their efforts in defending the people against the insecurity that has bedeviled the zone.
He also called on the people of the zone to rise to the challenges facing the zone.
Responding, Sani-Bello said that the establishment of the forum was timely as its efforts would complement that of the North Central Governors in their quest to ensure good governance.
He also commended the forum for finding him worthy of the investiture and assured them of his commitment and dedication.(NAN)
