He also revealed that as part of efforts of boost Keffi LGA’s revenue profile, a committee on improving Internally Generated Revenue would be established soon.

“After careful perusal of the handover notes and further inquiries, I am aware that the Keffi Local Government Council has suffered a lot of setbacks to the extent that government vehicles and other properties are now wasting in court premises as a result of litigation by contractors.

“As a government, we cannot fold our arms and allow this scenario continues unabated.

“In realisation of this, I wish to use this opportunity to appeal to all affected parties to resort to alternative dispute resolution, bearing in mind that it is a doctrine of public policy that there must be an end to litigation.

“I wish to humbly request parties involved to report to my office for roundtable discussion and amicable resolution of issues in the interest of peace and progress of Keffi Local Government Area, the State and country at large,” he said.

The LGA boss said that every measure his administration intended to take was aimed at ensuring social justice, safety of lives and property of people, which were the cardinal and fundamental objectives of every responsible government.

“We have sworn to defend and protect the constitution, we would stop at nothing in seeing to it that everyone, irrespective of political leaning or social status, is treated fairly, justly humanly and in accordance with the laws of our land.

“As President Muhammadu Buhari put it clearly on the first day of his assumption of office, precisely on May 29, 2015, in the following illuminating words: “I belong to nobody and I belong to everybody.

“Therefore, it is my fervent prayers and optimism that the above assertion would serve as guide and reminder in the course of our service to the people of Keffi and beyond.”

Shehu therefore, appealed to the Emir of Keffi, Dr Shehu Yamusa III, security operatives, community leaders and all peace loving citizens of Keffi, to join hands with him towards ensuring sustained peace for socio-economic activities to thrive in the area.
