Quality education key to growth, advancement of society – Don

By Patience Aliyu

The Plateau State Universal Education Board has  described quality education as critical to the growth and advancement of the society.

Prof. Mathew Sule, the chairman of the board  made the disclosure during the distribution of vehicles, motorcycles and other equipment to monitoring officers at the state and local government levels on Friday in Jos.

The distribution was part of the Continuous Quality Assurance activities of the board.

Sule, however,  decried the increased spate of attacks on schools and school children in the country, saying that such crimes remained a threat to the advancement of education in the country.

“We call on all Nigerians, we speak to the conscience  of all, we have no other instrument of advancement and development, other than education.

“We should allow the younger ones to get the best of education; our hope is in the younger people and the future is largely depended on them.

“So we call on all those that are behind all those criminal activities, to put a stop to it, so that the children can feel comfortable.

“Any child who learns is a child who is stable emotionally and psychologically.

“So if this things are not guaranteed, to what extent can the children learn.  There are a lot of difficulties,” he lamented

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the items distributed include: one Toyota Hilux vehicle, 37 motorcycles, 24 laptops, printers, and generators.

Others include: scanners, stabilisers, photocopier, UPS and desktop computers. (NAN)
