Teach children love of God for a secured Nigeria: Bello urges mothers

Dr Tony Bello, the Chairman of Shine Bridge Global, a U.S.-based food and agro-allied services company, has admonished mothers to inculcate love of God in their children’ heart to secure the future of the country.


Bello gave the charge in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) after laying his mother, Mrs Theresa Odiboh Ekowanye to rest.


Mama Ekowanye died on September 11, 2021 at the age of 80 years after a brief illness at at Irrua Specialist Hospital, Esan West LGA, Edo.


Bello said that Mama Ekowanye manifested love of God in her service to humanity, a virtue all mothers should emulate and pass down to their children.
Bello, who is the first son of the deceased,

eulogised the power of mothers love saying that if well administered, could build a great nation.


“Our mother by the special grace of God during her lifetime on earth manifested the love of God in her service to humanity and mankind.


“As the biological mother of seven children and many other children, she was the epitome of the Proverbs 31 wife we read about in the Bible.


“She loved all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren; even as a widow for more than thirty years, she provided for us with all she had in the natural and spiritual.


“She lived in the same household with some of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
“She taught us to love God, to love ourselves, and to love one another,” he said.


Bello said that mama enjoyed her last days being a mother and prayed God to rest her soul.


Also, Mr Cyril Odiboh, the fourth son described late Mrs Theresa Odiboh Ekowanye as a “saint of God to her people.”


According to him, her legacy is immeasurably impactful as a mother, midwife, nursing matron and health administrator.


He said like mama, mothers must learn put their virtues to work in the service of mankind and in the building of the future of the country.


“More than a thousand child birth, without an incident of maternal mortality, including premature babies being delivered.


“She was an epitome of truth, your legacy shall never be forgotten; we your children are privileged to have you as our Mother,” he said.


Mrs Theresa Odiboh Ekowanye survived by eigth children, 19 grandchildren and 11 great grand children.


Dignitaries at the funeral include Rep. Serguis Ogun, member House of Representatives, Mr Osaze Ero, former commissioner for Art & Tourism Edo, Mr Joe Okojie, immediate past Adviser to Governor Godwin Obaseki on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry among others.(NAN)
