Delta Assembly resumes plenary after 2 weeks break

The Delta House of Assembly on Wednesday resumed plenary after two weeks break, following the demise of its Majority Leader, Mr Tim Owhere.
The assembly congratulated Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala who emerged Director General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) on Monday.
The Speaker, Sheriff Oborevwori said that Okonjo-Iweala made history by emerging as the first African and the first female to be appointed as Director General of WTO.
”We are very proud of her and we congratulate her once again for putting Delta on the world map.
”This victory is for all of us and has shown that we can triumph at the global stage by dedication and hard work.”
Meanwhile, Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa has sent to the assembly, the name of Mr Bruno Ebitonmo for screening and confirmation as Auditor-General of Local Government in the state.
The name of the nominee was contained in a letter read by the speaker.
Consequently, the speaker directed him to submit 35 copies of his Curriculum Vitae and credentials to the office of the Clerk of the House on or before Feb. 21.
The speaker also directed the nominee to appear before the assembly for screening on Feb. 22.
