NUPRC commits to digital monitoring of Host Community Devt Trust

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has expressed commitment to ensure effective information on Industry Digital Automated Portal (IDAP) to monitor and report the Host Community Development Trust (HCDT).
The Acting Director, Environment, Community and Sustainability, NUPRC, Mrs Ejiro Ufondu, said this at a stakeholders engagement with settlors on the Deployment of Host Comply Technological Solutions, in Abuja on Thursday.
“The platform was developed for transparent administration of the host communities as provided by the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021,” she said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the NUPRC unveiled the portal in May 2023.
The IDAP was developed in partnership with an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and would meet specific requirements of the HCDT.
The platform will fulfill obligations to host communities, promote accountability and transparency in the HCDT programme management.
It will also enable quick feedback from the stakeholders and the public for the commission to carry out its regulatory oversight effectively.
Ufondu further said the essence of the meeting was to give further detailed information to the stakeholders on how the portal works.
The commission, she said, informed the stakeholders and host community about digital solutions for managing the host community development trust.
“We also have people represented here for the setting up and for the administration of the trust.
“We got a letter from Oil Producers Trade Section (OPTS), asking for more clarifications and more details about the platform.
“We had written a circular to the industry following that arrangement and OPTS responded with a letter that they needed more information and wanted to understand the portal and how it works.
“So, that is why we are having this meeting, to give further details on how the portal works.
“We are going to be making a presentation to you; we are available to answer questions that may arise from the presentations,” she added. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
