The Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project, says it will construct Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, (WASH), facilities for Federal Unity Colleges (FUCs) in the country.

This is in continuation of its mission to improve the quality of learning environment for girls in the country.

The Communication Officer of AGILE, Linda Irabor, made this known in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday.

Irabor said in pursuit of this goal, the project recently held technical workshops with the Principals of FUCs from the Southern and Northern zones of the country in Uyo and Kano, to enlighten them on the modalities of the intervention.

She quoted the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, Mr David Adejo, to have said at the workshop that the projects intervention was compelled by the Federal Government’s desire to make secondary education more appealing to learners and teachers.

In her remarks, the National Coordinator, AGILE Project, Mrs Amina Haruna, said the project had achieved a lot to make secondary education more conducive in the implementing states.

Haruna, represented by the Deputy National Project Coordinator (DNPC), Mrs Abuka Ajanigo, urged the principals to adhere to the stipulations and standards of the AGILE Project and the World Bank while constructing the facilities.

The principals expressed their gratitude for the intervention as well as their readiness to abide by the stipulated standards for the WASH facilities. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
