An NGO, Supportive Mother’s Club, on Saturday donated cash to critically ill patients and their parents in Nyanya General Hospital, FCT to offset their medical bills and support them with medical supplies.
The NGO’s President, Hajiya Larai Shira, said the gesture was to reduce the burden of hospital bills and hardship faced by families, especially as the society grapples with economic hardship.
” We know times are so hard and there are people who are in need and don’t have a source of income, support, or where to seek help to offset their medical bills.
” We are mothers and we feel we should extend a hand of kindness to families, indigent and less privileged persons to give a helping hand to those in need.
Shira, therefore , encouraged Nigerians to render support and help to the less privileged and marginalised persons in the society , especially in this critical time of economic hardship.
” We encourage the society, who have the means but don’t know how and where to go about it. We shouldn’t wait for the government to do everything. There are things that we can do to help the privileged should do to assist,” she said.
Mr Christopher Simon, father of a two-year old girl, Trinity, said the cash donation was timely as it would aid in cushioning the cost of treatment for his daughter.
Similarly, Mrs Zuwaira Abdullahi, a mother of twins, expressed appreciation to the organisation for their support, concern and care to the less privileged persons in the society.
On her part, Mrs Elizabeth Ndoba, mother of a year old baby said her daughter has been battling sickle cell anaemia, so constantly needs medical attention.
While praying for the donors for their support, she explained that the cash donation came at a time the family needed it most.
NAN reports that the organisation gave undisclosed cash donations to several patients in the neonatal, Paedetric and Gynaecologist wards in the hospital.
