The Minister of State for Police Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has restated the Federal Government’s commitment to upgrade the Nigeria Police Force to a global standard.
Sulaiman-Ibrahim stated this on Tuesday during a working visit to the Police Command in Kaduna State.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the minister toured round some police facilities which included barracks, Police Station, Police Primary School, Police College, among others.
Sulaiman-Ibrahim told newsmen after the inspection that the visit was to show solidarity and express gratitude to the force, rebuild and restore confidence of citizens in the force.
“The Police are doing so much; we have to applaud them,” she said.
The minister said that President Bola Tinubu recently inaugurated a reform committee which included her as a member.
She, therefore, said she came on her behalf and the Ministry of Police Affairs to show solidarity and make an assessment of the force, to chat the way forward.
“ We should expect an actual reform; in the past, there has been reform papers that were never implemented.
“ What we should expect from the Renewed Police Agenda is a reform that will actually be implemented so that we can actualise our dream of having a Police Force of the 21st century.
“ Our officers are doing so much with so little, the Police in Kaduna Command are doing very well.
“ The Police cannot be separated from their families; we will see a lot of welfare reform in their accommodations and other needs.” (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
