ICPC, BPSR rate Lottery Trust Fund best in accountability
The Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR), and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), have declared the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), as the “Best Performing Federal Government Agency in accountability”.
BPSR and ICPC, in their separate annual reports, stated that NLTF emerged the best agency “with the record of zero tolerance for corruption and strict compliance with due process”.
They further described the NLTF as the overall best performing agency in terms of resource management.
According to the BPSR, at the end of its 2022 Self and Validation assessments and in-depth analysis of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), NLTF’s operations, processes and systems performance was 75.24 per cent.
“With such record, it emerged a Gold Level organisation that exceeds expectations,” the report stated.
BPSR revealed that during the assessment of the various MDAs, NLTF emerged the best agency in essential areas of responsibility and quality of work, as well as resources accountability.
”During our 2022 Self-Assessment Tool (SAT), to the management of the NLTF Head office in Abuja, what we discovered was quite impressive and encouraging,” Ibrahim Dasuki, Director-General of the Bureau, said at a ceremony to present an award to Dr Bello Maigari, Executive Secretary of the NLTF.
Dasuki explained that NLTF’s performance constantly exceeded expectations in all essential areas and was, therefore, adjudged to be above average.
The ICPC, during its second national summit against graft, tagged “Diminishing Corruption in Public Service and 20th Anniversary of the ICPC”, equally paid similar glowing tributes to the NLTF.
During the summit that had the theme: “Together Against Corruption”, ICPC presented awards to NLTF as the second best among MDAs with zero tolerance for corruption and strict compliance with due process.
The ICPC report indicated that among 360 federal agencies it assessed on ethics, integrity and compliance, NLTF’s score card was the best.
It indicated that the anti-graft commission found NLTF as the second best agency with zero tolerance for corruption and due process compliance.
Mr Zaphania Jisalo, the Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, has also commended the NLTF boss’ sterling qualities.
He said that ICPC, an anti-graft agency, after its critical assessment, recognised the Maigari-led administration for judicious utilisation of the agency’s resources.
“On that note, it awarded NLTF the second best agency among MDAs with due process record and zero tolerance for corruption.
”Dr. Bello Maigari, no doubt, is one of the few most highly respected and intellectual personalities saddled with the responsibility of overseeing critical government agencies, such as the NLTF.
”Because of Maigari’s leadership, achievements and track records in discharging good governance, the Federal Government commends the agency for its remarkable progress in rural water supply and Sanitation across the country,” Jisalo said.
His remarks were contained in a speech during the official inaugurating of motorised boreholes in 15 communities in Benue.
According to the minister, the Federal Government is absolutely impressed with the agency’s performance on delivering good outcomes and interventions in spite of the dwindling global economy, and with meagre resources. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
