ICPC, Al-Habibiyyah sensitize youths on anti-corruption

The Al-Habibiyyah Islamic Society and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) have called on Nigerian youths to shun corruption and be morally upright in all their endeavors.
They made the call on Saturday in Abuja at a workshop organised by Al-Habibiyyah Islamic Society to mark the 2023 World Anti-Corruption Day Celebration.
The workshop which had students and youths in attendance had as its theme: “Uniting the Youths for Accountability and Transparency”.
Mr Hassan Salisu,  Anti Corruption Commissioner, ICPC in his remarks stressed the need to “catch them young’ and make the youths conscious of the negative effects of corruption to  a society.
“We are here to celebrate the World  Anti-corruption day and it is important to always encourage our children/youth, and tell them what corruption has really done to this country.
“It is important we highlight the dangers it causes to the socio-economic development of the country.
“We are here to build tomorrow. The concept is that our children are our tomorrow. So, we are here to build our tomorrow by encouraging these young ones not to be corrupt,” he said.
Earlier, National Chief Imam of Al-Habibiyyah Mosque, Sheikh Fuad Adeyemi, said that the workshop was part of efforts to change the narrative about corruption in Nigeria.
He said that the Association would continue to work closely with relevant stakeholders to address contemporary challenges in the country and promote peace and unity.
“Al-Habibiyyah will continue to work with relevant stakeholders to address some of this contemporary challenges facing our country.
“As we mark the world anti-corruption day, it is pertinent to focus on our children and youths and see how we can guide them on the need to shun corruption,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the MaC Arthur Foundation supported workshop had lectures, interactive session and quiz segment with students from various FCT schools in attendance.(NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
