Yuletide: NGO donates food items, cash to orphanage in Abuja
By Monday Ijeh
Network Against Corruption and Human Trafficking (NACAT), has donated cash and food items to the Poorest of the Poor Rehabilitation Center, Anawim Orphanage ahead of the Yuletide.
Presenting the cash and food items to the center in Gwagwalada, Mr Samson Tega, Executive Director of NACAT said the gesture was part of the NGO’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
He said the donation was a demonstration of NACAT, as a pro-democracy civil society organisation, to give back to the society through the orphanage home.
Tega said the NGO had adopted Anawim Orphanage as its annual beneficiary, where food items, toiletries and cash would be donated.
He said plans have been concluded by the NGO to extend its support through the adoption of the center, for an upcoming school partnership programme to be unveiled in 2024.
Tega commended the orphanage for expanding their scope to a rehabilitation centre.
Rev. Sis. Augustina Malogun, General Coordinator of the Missionary Sisters of the Poorest of the Poor (MSPP), said the center was a voluntary, non-political and non-profit-making church body.
She said the home was dedicated to addressing the needs of the most vulnerable, irrespective of class, race, tribe, colour or religion.
Malogun said the centre had been in existence for over 27 years and had served as a haven for the less privileged individuals, orphans and those grappling with mental health challenges.
She said the center had also served as home to abandoned infants and children, as well as young girls facing unwanted pregnancies and those engaged in prostitution. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
