AFRD-2024: President Tinubu, others pray for armed forces

President Bola Tinubu, on Friday led top government functionaries and heads of security agencies to pray for the Armed Forces of Nigeria in commemoration of the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD).
The Minister of Defence, Dr Abubakar Badaru, Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar and other top government functionaries joined the president on Friday for the special prayers at the National Mosque, Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Jumaat prayer is one of the activities lined up to celebrate and remember the nation’s living and fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives for the peace and unity of Nigeria.
The Chief Imam of the National Mosque, Prof. Ibrahim Maqari, prayed for God’s guidance and protection for the members of the armed forces and urged Nigerians to support their efforts.
He also prayed for the living veterans who contributed their quota to the unity of the nation and the repose of the souls of the fallen heroes.
The imam also prayed for the leadership of the country and the armed forces to succed in defeating the enemies of the nation.
NAN reports that several other activities like medical and humanitarian outreaches are being conducted by the different services of the armed forces across the country to commemorate the 2024 AFRD.
There will also be an interdenominational church service on Sunday at the National Christian Centre and other centres nationwide, as part of activities lined up to mark the day.
The 2024 AFRD celebration will he climaxed by the laying of wreaths by the President, Vice President and other top government functionaries and service chiefs on Jan. 15, at the National Arcade. (NAN) (www.nanners.ng)
