Lagos Egbeda Lions Club, under District 404B3, has unveiled an intervention initiative for Queen’s College, Yaba, aimed at resolving the water challenges faced by the school.

The project consists of water reticulation, refurbishment of water tank columns and reflooring of student wash area.

Otunba Olayiwola Fadairo, District Governor for District 404B3 Nigeria, inaugurated the project on Wednesday at the school’s premises.

Fadairo said the intervention was to arrest the water inadequacy experienced in the school.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the school had in previous years suffered bouts of water crisis resulting in lack of clean water to drink, bath and to do other necessities.

According to the district governor, the club also provided working taps to further enhance the release of water for adequate use.

He lauded Lagos Egbeda Lions Club for the initiative, saying that it will meet the needs of the students.

“It is important to quote Albert Szent-Gyorgyi who said that water is life’s matter and matrix, mother and medium. There is no life without water.

“Kudos to the president and members of Lagos Egbeda Lions Club on this feat.

“This intervention is important to provide water for the pupils, so they can be healthy and in an enhanced frame of mind to face their studies.

“The development is our service to humanity and we will continue to champion initiatives that support socio-economic growth and development,” Fadairo said.

Responding on behalf of the students and the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) executives of the school, Mrs Oyindamola Obabori, Principal, Queen’s College, thanked the club for the intervention.
