Dr Yetunde Adeniji, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Home Grown School Feeding, says President Bola Tinubu is passionate about sustaining the programme.
She said this when she paid a courtesy visit to Gov. Umaru Bago of Niger in Minna, saying the programme had increased school enrolment of pupils across the country.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the presidential aide was received by Mr Yakubu Garba, Deputy Governor of the state.
She said the visit was also to familiarise with Niger Government and discuss the welfare of pupils of non-formal Qur’anic schools (Almajiri) and internally displaced persons’ children who were out of school.
Responding, the governor described school feeding as vital programme to the state, adding that his administration is passionate to ensure sustainability of the programme.
Bago said implementation of the programme had been successful since inception in the state.
According to him, plans are underway by the state government to expand the scope of the programme to primary four pupils. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
