Ondo 2024: Women group declares support for Aiyedatiwa
By Segun Giwa
Odatiwa Women Wing, a support group for Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State, has declared support for the governor to emerge as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the forthcoming governorship primary.
Mrs Olamide Falana, the convener of the group, made this known at the group’s inaugural meeting on Wednesday in Akure.
Falana, who is the Special Adviser to the governor on Gender, said that the group was rooting for the governor “to ensure continuity of his commendable efforts.”
According to her, the women believe in the quality of leadership shown by Ayedatiwa in the short time he has taken over the reigns of governance in the state.
The special adviser said that the essence of the meeting was to strategise on how to ensure massive victory for Aiyedatiwa, with the help of women across the 18 local government areas of the state.
“We are here today, the meeting of eminent women leaders across the 18 local government of the state to talk about our strategies for pushing, supporting and ensuring the overall victory of Ayedatiwa at the coming elections.
“We believe strongly in his leadership, we believe that he has all it takes to continue to lead us in the state, he has demonstrated unparalleled, unrivalled loyalty to his former principal.
“He has demonstrated unparalleled patience and calmness, he has shown the deep gentleness and leadership tenets that we need in a state like ours, he has shown his readiness to work and of course he’s already working,” she said.
Also speaking, Mrs Olayemi Ajonibode from Akoko North-West Local Government, said that Aiyedatiwa had the support of apex women leaders across the 18 local government of the state.
According to Ajonibode, the women want the continuity of the good work the governor has started.
“Women across the 18 Local Government Area of Ondo State are here in support of Aiyedatiwa for the governorship election that is coming.
“We are so sure, if you look at us, we’re the real women of Ondo State politics, so when we talk of apex women leaders, we are not the local government women leaders, we are the apex women leaders across the 18 Local Government.
“So, we are sure that he, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, will get the ticket, we are sure he will win the elections, we just want continuity in Ondo State.
“We don’t want a situation where we will have another governor and the whole thing will scatter again. We want somebody that will get the ticket and continue the jobs that are already ongoing.
“Let’s take Lagos as an example, it’s because they have continuity in their government, that is why you see them moving, that is why you see them living better than other states.
“That is the purpose why we women said let’s come together and give this man a full support so we can have the continuity of the government,” she said.
Ajonibode also appealed to the governor for appointment of more women into his cabinet. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
