The Director General of Projects Development Institute (PRODA), Dr Peter Ogbobe, says the institute is discussing with other firms on possible partnership to commercialise ceramics and pencil products.

Ogbobe said this on Thursday at the ongoing Science, Technology and Innovation Expo in Abuja.

He said that the institute was discussing with Momas Electricity Manufacturing Company Ltd., Coscharis Farm Igbariam, Harbin Institute of Technology and the People’s Republic of China.

He said that lithium ion battery and solar panels among others were also to be commercialised.

He said that the institute sought approval of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation to partner and execute a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with relevant stakeholders to support the commercialisation efforts.

The PRODA boss said that the institute leveraged on STI tools that could create new opportunities for growth, and build a sustainable and resilient economy for the future.

According to him, PRODA has developed and produced machines/equipment that achieve high productivity and high quality products.

“Such equipment help obviate the challenges posed by manual processing of agro-produce with a view to reducing post-harvest losses.

“The institute mechanises palm fruit processing flow-line to red oil.

“There is also the mechanisation of cassava to starch processing flow-line, and soya-bean to flour processing flow line among others,” he said.

Ogbobe said that Nigeria’s economic progress could be propelled by leveraging the opportunities technology presented to drive positive change.

“Through constant innovation, collaboration and pushing the boundaries of what is possible, the power of technology can be harnessed to overcome challenges and foster sustainable development.
