Ondo State Government has assured residents that all the ongoing road projects will be completed and delivered as scheduled.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Mr Joseph Babalola, gave the assurance while inspecting the road projects in Akure metropolis on Sunday.

Babalola, while inspecting the level of work at Oyarugbulem and Shagari Estate overhead bridge, said that all the beams and deck slabs had been tested, adding that they met the standard.

He said that all the materials being used by the construction company were of high quality.

The special adviser, who noted that the construction work had reached 60 per cent completion, said the follow-up visit was meant to complement the initial inspection carried out by Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

He explained that aside easing traffic on the axis, the overhead bridge would also enhance business activities within the metropolis.

“We are paying unscheduled visit to the construction sites in order for us to see the level of construction work here.

“We don’t want contractors to know we are coming here so that we can see the level of seriousness. However, we are satisfied with the pace at which the construction works are going here.

“The beams and concrete decks have been tested with world-class equipment and we discovered that they met world standard.

“They will soon begin to hoist the beams before laying the concrete decks, while the finishing will commence thereafter.

“We thank the people’s governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for giving the marching order that all contractors should return to sites.

“This overhead bridge is expected to be completed within 18 months, and considering the pace at which the works are going here, the contractors will surely meet up with the time,” he said.

Babalola said that the Ministry of Infrastructure, Lands and Housing would not relent in ensuring that the construction works were of high quality.

NAN reports that Babalola and his team also visited the Oda and Ijoka road dualisation projects. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
