Abuja, March 31, 2025 (NAN) Alfa Designs Nigeria, a leading oil and gas company, is set to begin conversion of diesel engine vehicles to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).

Research Engineer for Alfa Designs, Mubarak Abdul, made this public in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Abuja.

Abdul said that the company remained committed to ensuring a cleaner and greener future for Nigeria.

” When you put on your diesel generators or start your diesel trucks, you can see how thick smoke comes out.

”So, we sat down and we checked how we could contribute to the reduction of the soot.

” We came up with what we call the dual fuel engine conversion kit.

”We are partnering with a foreign company to get the dual fuel kit started soon in Nigeria,” he said.

Abdul said that the dual fuel kit would enable the engine, truck or car to use less of diesel and more of gas.

He said these could be either Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) or CNG.

The CNG, he said, would replace much of the diesel and there would be a mixture of the CNG and the diesel, resulting in low emission.

Abdul also said there would be absence of soot with this process.

He said his company was committed to the Paris Agreement and the Protocols, adding that Alfa Design had pledged to reduce emissions by 2030.

”The advantage of the dual fuel kit is that it will reduce cost and reduce emission,” he added.

Abdul said Alfa Designs would also introduce a Computed Tomography (CT) machine.

He said CT machine was now being used in industries for advanced inspections.

”Over the years, we heard about the CT machine in the medical line.

”Whenever they want to carry out an advance inspection, the CT machine is used to tell you what you cannot see with your bare eyes

”Our company had brought the CT machine to the country and we aim to support the advanced inspection in industry with this machine,” he said.

Abdul further said that with the machine, oil and gas firms could carry out rock physics analysis and other investigations easily.

”Before you determine that there is oil in a particular place or even after you find oil, you have to carry out ‘well characterisation.’

”This means you have to check the physical properties of the place and the CT machine will help industries to do a lot of the analysis with ease,” he said.

Abdul urged Nigerians to adopt every means to tackle greenhouse gas emissions, saying they could have negative effects on the long run.

He identified some major problems associated with greenhouse gas emissions to include flooding and global warming, urging Nigerians to support the government and its initiatives.(NAN)
