Mr Mutiu Gbajumo, National President of Zumratul Islamiyya Society Nigeria (ZISN), has urged Nigerians to maintain integrity, spread peace and love for the betterment of the country.
Gbajumo gave the advice at the 9th National Triennial Conference of the Zumratul Islamiyya Society Nigeria held on Saturday in Akure, Ondo State Capital.
The ZISN national president also called on Nigerian leaders to address the economic sufferings, social injustice and insecurity that is affecting the country’s economy.
“We need to address all challenges facing the nation like economic struggles, social injustice and the erosion of moral values among our youths.
“We all know that there are challenges in the country, but it is our responsibility to address these challenges with wisdom, unity and unwavering faith in Allah’s guidance.
“As Muslims, we all know that Islam is a religion of peace, and we need to show love to our neighbours, even if he or she is a pagan.
“We should also shun any form of discrimination among ourselves so that the country can move forward.
“So, let us remind ourselves that ZISN emphasises the need to serve in humility, uplift the oppressed and to spread peace everywhere,” he said.
Gbajumo, who explained that ZISN was mainly established 98 years ago to promote both Western and Islamic education, said that the society had built many schools across the country.
He, therefore, said that the society would lay the foundation of a N900 million modern Islamic centre on Sunday in Akure.
Also, Dr Yunus Anola, Chief Imam, Khaleel Fawehinmi Mosque, Ondo State Government House, Akure, urged Nigerians to always give gratitude to God in any circumstance.
Anola, the guest lecturer, who spoke on the theme “Gratitude Amidst Scarcity”, urged Nigerians to always manage their resources and have faith in Allah.
“You need faith in Allah to have peace of mind amidst the economic challenges in the country.
“Time has come for us to know that nobody will experience abundance without having experienced scarcity in his or her life.
“So, if we could endure during the scarcity, definitely, abundance will surely come our way.
“Despite Nigeria’s economic challenges, if we can recognise God in our daily activities, all our difficulties will be over and our government can take us to the promised land,” he said.
Earlier, Alhaja Safuratu Adewale-Eleruja, National Ameera ZISN, called on Nigerian leaders to carry women along in the national developmental programme.
“We all know that there is scarcity, which is affecting young, old, men and women, but if women can be given more chances, our country will be better.
“Whoever builds women builds a nation, and women are nation builders,” she said.

Similarly, Mr Balogun Qudus-Oladipupo, National Secretary of ZISN, said it was expected for Muslim faithful to find a solution to the economic hardship, rather than see it as a problem. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
