Gov. Hyacinth Alia of Benue has urged Christians to intensify prayers for Benue people as they celebrate one of the saddest Easters ever in their history.
On Good Friday, more than 56 persons were attacked and killed in Logo and Ukum Local Government Areas of the state.
Alia solicited for prayers, love for one another, forgiveness, sacrifice and reconciliation, saying they are the virtues Christ bequeathed to mankind as a result of his death, burial and resurrection.
He regretted that this year’s Easter was being marked at a time the state came under several attacks, but assured that all would be well soonest.
The governor said his administration was doing everything within its power in collaboration with security agencies, to ensure the safety of all Benue people.
He called for collaboration amongst the people of the state to defeat the forces of evil, who he said were bent on causing pain and agony to innocent people of the state and across the country.
Alia said Christ’s sacrifice and resurrection demonstrated selflessness, freeing humanity from chaos and condemnation, and nurturing hope and optimism for a life of virtue on earth and eternity.
He prayed for God’s grace and blessings over the people of the state, during and after the period of the Easter celebration. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
