Gov. Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has congratulated Christians in the state and across Nigeria on the occasion of this year’s Easter celebration.
The Governor described Easter as a celebration of Christ’s death and resurrection – a gift from God.
He congratulated Christians on the commemoration, encouraging them to emulate Christ’s virtues of humility, perseverance, and compassion in their daily lives.
Oyebanji urged Ekiti State residents and all Nigerians, especially Christians, to use Easter to seek God’s face for lasting peace in the state and the nation.
He also encouraged Christians to continue living peacefully with followers of other religions, noting that Christ’s life promoted harmony, patience, and selflessness.
The governor appreciated the Christian community in the state for their prayers and continued support for his administration and its developmental efforts.
He said their cooperation had contributed significantly to the state’s recorded achievements and ongoing progress across various sectors.
“I wish all Ekiti residents and Christians worldwide a Happy Easter as we celebrate God’s greatest gift to mankind,” the governor said.
He added that the events leading to Christ’s resurrection were pivotal to both Christianity and humanity, symbolising sacrifice, peace, and unconditional love.
“This season is a time for reflection – on our personal lives, communities, and as a nation.
“The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ reflect love, compassion, and the value of peaceful coexistence,” Oyebanji stated.
He urged Christians to emulate Christ’s virtues and positively influence the lives of neighbours, colleagues, and family members through love and kindness. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
