Gov. Peter Mbah of Enugu State has donated 30 Toyota Hiace buses to the Science, Technical and Vocational Schools Management Board (STVSMB) to enhance their day-to-day school operations.
The buses would be distributed to 30 Science, Technical and Vocation schools while nine additional buses would be delivered to the remaining nine schools.
Presenting the keys of the buses to the Chairman of STVSMB, Dr Amaka Ngene, at the board’s premises in Enugu, Mbah said the gesture was to ease movement and quicken the daily operations of the schools.
The governor, represented by his Special Adviser on Education Innovation and Director, Experiential Learning, Enugu Green Smart School, Owo, Dr Chinyere Onyisi, added that the buses would enable principals of the schools to deliver optimally.
“With these vehicles, distance is no longer a barrier as principals in the schools can move about to carry out their activities with ease, monitoring teaching and learning.
“What is happening in Enugu state is a transformation. Today’s education has shifted from content memorisation to creativity, critical thinking and problem- solving approach,” Onyisi said.
Commending the Chairman of the STVSMB, Dr Amaka Ngene, for her outstanding performances in the board, Onyisi said: “I want to encourage the board chairman who is working so hard to ensure that principals are doing the right thing.

She encouraged the principals to work together as a team to reposition technical and vocational schools in Enugu State.
Speaking also, Ngene explained that the principals and drivers had already received their orientation on how to handle the vehicles.
“They are going to sign for us an undertaking to take these vehicles and for the purposes they were meant for.”
She thanked the governor for the great works he was doing in Enugu State, saying, “He is a man of passion for education”.
