NSF: Anambra picks silver, bronze in Taekwondo
By Chimezie Anaso
Team Anambra has won more medals at the ongoing National Sports Festival (NSF) in Ogun State.
Dandy Ogbonna of the Taekwondo team won silver after failing to beat his Delta State counterpart in the final of the Kyorugii middleweight fight held at the Illisan Townhall Sagamu.
Ogbonna reached the final after a knockout victory against his Oyo counterpart.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Ogbonna opened the medal haul for Anambra with a bronze in poomsae male of Taekwondo, after a victory against Bauchi.
Jude Nwafor, Coach of Anambra Taekwondo Team, said the victories have motivated them for better performance in subsequent fights.
Nwafor said he wished the medals were more colourful but commended his athletes for putting up a good fight.
“It could have been better, I wish the colours were golden but we still have the opportunity for more laurels,” he said. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
