Nigeria Women’s Cricket team on Thursday defeated their Tanzanian counterparts by two wickets to record their first win at the ongoing Kwibuka Women’s tournament in Rwanda.
The Female Yellow Greens had earlier lost to Zimbabwe and Brazil in their first two matches in the tournament.
Meanwhile the game played at the Gahanga Cricket Oval saw Tanzania win the toss and opted to bat.
The Nigerian side limited their opponents to 82 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs in the first innings.
Nigeria in the chase, however scored 83 runs for the loss of eight wickets, also in their allotted 20 overs. They win by two wickets.
Nigeria will take on hosts Rwanda on Friday in the nine-national tournament.
The annual tournament is in remembrance of the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
