Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna has again emerged as the best performing institution in admission compliance at the 2025 National Tertiary Admissions Performance Merit Awards (NAPTAP-M).
The awards was organised by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to recognise institutions that upheld integrity, transparency, and excellence in their admission processes.
Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, Nigeria Air Force (NAF), saidย AFIT clinched the first position among universities for its exceptional compliance with JAMBโs 2024/2025 admission guidelines, a leap from its second-place ranking in the previous cycle.
He said the institution also secured an impressive fourth position overall, across 172 Nigerian universities for the combined 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 admission years, trailing only Ahmadu Bello University, University of Ilorin, and Nile University.
According to him, the development reaffirms AFITโs growing reputation as Nigeriaโs premier aerospace and defence-focused university, known for its rigorous academic standards and merit-based admissions.
โThis latest milestone affirms AFITโs unwavering commitment to transparency, merit-based admissions, and excellence in education delivery, in line with national guidelines and global best practices.
โRenowned as Nigeriaโs premier aerospace and defence-focused higher institution, AFIT continues to evolve as a world-class centre for innovation, character development, and research-driven education.
โIts growing national footprint and academic credibility have positioned it as one of the fastest-rising federal universities in the country.
โWith this remarkable recognition by JAMB, AFIT is poised to play an even more prominent role in shaping Nigeriaโs future workforce through quality education, technological innovation, and strategic relevance,โ Ejodame said.
Reacting to the accolade, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, praised the AFIT management for its consistency in academic and administrative excellence.
Abubakar described the award as โa validation of the NAFโs strategic investment in education as a critical pillar of air power and national development.โ
The CAS noted that AFITโs success aligned with his command’s philosophy, which placed a premium on capacity building, professionalism, and knowledge-driven transformation.
โAFITโs adherence to merit-based admissions reflects the values of discipline, integrity and professionalism, which NAF seeks to instill across all its institutions.
โThe performance of AFIT at the NAPTAP-M Awards demonstrates our resolve to build a future-ready Air Force anchored on knowledge, innovation, and competence.
โWe will continue to support AFIT in its mission to produce highly skilled graduates, not just for the NAF, but for Nigeria at large,โ Abubakar said. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)

What’s cut off mark for ND
Of course they’d be given such an award, after they closed down a whole faculty without considering the potential students involved.
