The Commander, 2 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Brig.-Gen. Alexander Tawasimi, has urged residents of Akwa Ibom to support the army with credible intelligence to tackle insecurity and crime.
Tawasimi made the call on Thursday when members of the Correspondents Chapel, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Akwa Ibom, visited him.
The commander said that the army was quite proactive in all of its formations in the state, saying, “we need the right intelligence to work with.”
“Kidnappers and bandits cannot dare to operate in any area that the army occupies, we need synergy for prompt actions,” he said.
Tawasimi, also the commander, Sector 4, Joint Task Force, South-South Operation Delta Safe, called for public vigilance and caution at all times.
“Be vigilant and cautious, don’t hesitate to report strange faces or suspicious movements in your environment to security agencies.
“Security personnel are not spirits, they cannot be everywhere, they can’t know everything, collaboration with the public is critical,” he said.
He also said that the army would leave no stone unturned in the campaign against illegal oil bunkering in the state.
“The criminals already know that Akwa Ibom is not safe for them, but we can achieve greater breakthroughs with the right synergy,” he said. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
