DIA accredits 6 foreign defence attachés, tasks them on cooperation

The Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) on Thursday accredited six Foreign Defence Advisers and Attaches posted to Nigeria by their respective countries.
The countries are Angola, Brazil, China, France, India and South Sudan.
The Chief of Defence Intelligence (CDI), Maj.-Gen. Emmanuel Undiandeye, said the accreditation placed a stamp of authority and approval on their posting to Nigeria.
Undiandeye emphasised the significance of partnership and cooperation in promoting peace and global security.
He highlighted the importance of working together as members of the global community to address common challenges and improve the human condition.
The CDI reminded the newly accredited advisers and attachés to adhere to established protocols and guidelines governing their roles.
He assured them of the agency’s commitment to facilitating their work and enhancing bilateral relations between Nigeria and their respective countries.
He said “Your accreditation is a symbol of our enduring partnerships, our reliance for promoting peace around the world and our efforts to cooperate and overcome adversaries.
“But most of all, to connect, interact and work as members of humankind that must improve this global condition and our ecosystems.
“I urge you to stay by the tenets and protocols of the defence adversary system and the guidelines which I think has been issued to you in the envelopes that you have been given this morning.
“We, on our part, will do everything within our power to make your stay a success, and to also improve upon our relations through acquisitions, diplomatic exchanges and many more relationships that promote national interest of our respective nations.”
Earlier, the Director of Foreign Liaison at the DIA, Brig.-Gen. Ojogbane Adegbe, reminded the attachés and advisers to familiarise themselves with the guidelines and procedures governing their conduct, which are enclosed with their certificates.
Adegbe stressed that direct correspondence with Defence or Services Headquarters without going through the agency was prohibited.
He added that they were also required to notify the DIA when traveling out of the country or seeking permission to visit military formations and related institutions.
The Dean of Defence Attachés in Nigeria and Defence Attaché of Morocco, Col. Mohammed Abounasr, thanked DIA on behalf of the community of Defence Attachés accredited to Nigeria.
Abounasr commended the leadership and professionalism of the DIA for their support and facilitation.
He congratulated his colleagues on their appointment and accreditation, reaffirming their commitment to continuing close and constructive collaboration with the DIA in the spirit of solidarity and professionalism. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
