Gov. Hyacinth Alia has expressed sadness over the death of the immediate past President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari.
Alia, in a condolence message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Tersoo Kula, and made available to newsmen on Sunday in Makurdi, described the late Buhari as a man of integrity.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the former president died at about 4:30pm on Sunday in a clinic in London, United Kingdom.
The governor described the late Buhari as one who was resolute and committed to national development above earthly possessions, leaving behind a legacy that was deeply rooted in integrity.
He said Buhari’s remarkable service to the nation, both as military head of state and democratically elected president, was filled with indelible marks on the nation’s history.
Alia said the former President served Nigeria with unwavering courage and conviction, consistently prioritising the nation’s interests and the well-being of its people.
The governor added that the country would miss a statesman, a patriot, and a leader who committed his entire life to the service of the country.
He prayed to God to console his immediate family and the entire nation over the loss and also grant the former President eternal rest. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
