Mark describes Buhari as a hero, selfless leader

The interim National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Sen. David Mark, on Sunday mourned the immediate past President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a hero, an uncommon patriot, and a selfless leader.
Mark, in a statement by his Media Adviser, Paul Mumeh in Abuja, said that Buhari passed away at the critical time when his fatherly advice was most needed to navigate through the murky water of the nation’s leadership.
“Nigeria has lost a hero, an uncommon patriot and a selfless leader who gave his all for the good of our nation,” he said.
Mark added that the greatest sacrifice which would be difficult to fault was Buhari’s love for this country, particularly, her unity.
“It is sad that President Buhari transited to the great beyond at this time, but we are consoled that his legacy of keeping the nation united will endure,” he added.
Mark was military Governor of Niger between 1984 and 1986 under Buhari as Military Head of state.
Former President Buhari, who was twice elected Nigeria’s President in 2015 and 2019, passed away on Sunday in London.
He also served as military head of state between January 1984 and August 1985. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
