HoCSF, GBB commit to digitalisation in Nigeria
By Jessica Dogo
Nigeria’s Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoCSF) and Galaxy Backbone (GBB) have expressed commitment to the digitalisation of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in the country.
The HoCSF, Mrs Didi Walson-Jack, made this known during her courtesy visit to Nigeria’s data centre under the management of GBB in Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that GBB is the information technology and shared services provider of the Federal Government of Nigeria.
According to Walson-Jack, the Office of the HoCSF will not relent in ensuring that all government offices are digital through the service of GBB and related government agencies.
She sought the collaboration of GBB to continue the digital transformation of the Nigerian civil service.
“I will start by letting you know that the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021-2025 ends this year.
“They are resuming because this is the final sprint, and we must deliver results.
“December 31 is the target date, and we need to actualise what many of you heard me say in my last World Press Conference before the civil service week.
“I believe it will lead us to our vision to see a federal civil service that is paperless by December 31,” she said.
Earlier, the Managing Director of GBB, Prof. Ibrahim Adeyanyu, said that the visit was symbolic of President Bola Tinubu’s shared national commitment to digital inclusion in core governance in Nigeria.
Adeyanyu also sought the continued commitment of the HoCSF to achieving ongoing digital transformation through the agency’s indigenous innovations.
“It is symbolic of the shared national commitment to digital inclusion in core governance in Nigeria.
“We understand that a fully digital service is no longer an aspiration but essential.
“We seek support for the HoCSF to activate and adopt digital infrastructures of Galaxy Backbone; we also seek the expansion of local area networks in offices of federal civil service,” he said.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Rafiu Olarinre, lauded the support of HoCSF toward the digital and infrastructural development of Nigeria. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
