The Nigerian Union in South Africa (NUSA) on Tuesday paid tributes to late former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a significant figure in Nigeria’s political history.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the group spoke during a condolence visit to the Nigerian Consulate in Johannesburg.

NUSA, the apex body of Nigerians in South Africa, said in a statement made available to NAN in Abuja that the delegation was led by its President General, Mr Smart Nwobi.

Other officials in the delegation were the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Ekos Akpokabayen and George Omagbemi, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President General of NUSA.

The group said the Nigerian leader would be remembered for his service for years to come.

NUSA said its visit and condolence message were a show of unity and respect, reflecting the commitment of Nigerians in the diaspora to national matters.

It expressed heartfelt sympathies to the Nigerian government and people during this time of national mourning.

According to NUSA, the visit also underscored the importance of honouring leaders who have shaped the country’s journey.(NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
