FRSC prioritises staff welfare, media collaboration in new reform drive

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has unveiled fresh reform initiatives aimed at boosting staff welfare and strengthening collaboration with the media to reposition the corps for greater impact.
The FRSC Corps Marshal, Malam Shehu Mohammed, made this known on Thursday in Abuja during a news conference.
Mohammed announced plans to establish a Health Management Office (HMO) dedicated to providing subsidised and efficient medical services for FRSC personnel.
He said the initiative followed persistent complaints from staff about poor health services from external Health Management Organisations (HMOs).
He added that the in-house HMO would guarantee prompt medical attention and improved healthcare delivery.
He explained that “we are determined to address the long-standing concerns of our officers regarding access to quality healthcare.
“The FRSC HMO is one of the bold steps we are taking to achieve that.”
The corps marshal noted that the FRSC had also redefined its public enlightenment strategy, incorporating Breakfast Meetings and Town-Hall engagements.
This, he said, were alongside traditional motor park rallies to deepen public safety awareness and promote internal idea exchange.
“These breakfast meetings foster productivity by creating relaxed environment for cross-fertilisation of ideas among personnel,” he added.
Mohammed praised the dedication of FRSC personnel across commands and zones, attributing the corps’ numerous recent achievements to their contributions.
He said that “in 2024 alone, the FRSC was decorated with multiple honours including the Nigeria Gov-Tech Public Service Award recognition as the Best Federal MDA in Digital Management and the Kofi Annan Road Safety Award.
“The corps also retained its ISO certification for the fifth consecutive time in April 2025.
“Additionally, it was ranked first among all military and paramilitary agencies by the Centre for Fiscal Transparency and Public Integrity.
“These awards reflect the success of our reform strategy anchored on People, Process and Technology.”
Mohammed also acknowledged the critical role of the media, commending journalists for their consistent and objective reportage of the corps’ activities and contributions to public education.
He said “your encouragement and constructive criticisms helped to shape our direction. We urge you to continue in this vital role.
“Let us all remember that road safety is a collective responsibility. We must stay united in ensuring safer highways for every Nigerian.” (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
