The Centre for Public Service Productivity and Development (CeProd) has advised governments in Africa to implement good governance that will open doors of opportunities and accelerate economic development in the continent.
The Director-General of CeProg, Dr Chris Egbu, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.
According to Egbu, impactful leadership is fundamental to make Nigeria and other countries in Africa enjoy accelerated developments.
He added that positive reforms for the welfare of citizens would equip Africans for future roles in developing the continent.
Egbu said the recent CeProg’s leadership summit attracted impressive scholars, policymakers and business leaders who united to envision a prosperous future for Nigeria and Africa.
“The summit, which was held in partnership with Crown University International Chartered Inc. USA and the Association of Pension Desk Practitioners of Nigeria (ASSOPEP), made a mark in leadership roles and reforms.
“It featured prominent speakers including Mr Ironbar Bassey, Chief of Staff to the Governor of Cross River, who stressed the government’s commitment to productivity-driven governance.
“Also, a presentation was delivered on “Public Policy and Economic Reform” by Dr David Samuel, a noted economist and public policy expert from Trinity University, Lagos.
“Similarly, Prof. Evans Osabuohien from Covenant University captivated the audience with his address, “Integrity in Leadership: Combating Corruption for National Renewal”.
“Integrity is a strategic imperative for Nigeria’s future. There should be institutional independence and digital transparency in governance.
“Putting all these together, we call for impactful leadership and positive reforms in governance across Africa to provide opportunities and accelerate economic development of the continent,” Egbu said.
He further explained that the induction of 18 new Fellows of CeProd (FCP) was in recognition of their commitment to leadership and productivity.
According to him, the induction reinforces CeProd’s mission to connect and celebrate productivity-driven professionals, promoting economic development and ethical leadership across Nigeria and beyond.
Egbu said the new Fellows joined the ranks of CeProd, adding that they have become ambassadors of a vision where merit and service excellence are paramount.
“The 2025 Leadership Summit not only served as a platform for knowledge exchange but also underscored the urgent need for impactful leadership and reform in Africa.
“As CeProd continues to inspire change-makers across sectors, this summit marks a significant step toward influencing public discourse and shaping the future of governance, enterprise, and public policy,” Egbu said. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
