President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of Ms. Somtochukwu Maduagwu, a news anchor with Arise Television News, who was killed during a robbery at her residence in Abuja.
This is contained in a statement by Mr Bayo Onanuga, on Tuesday in Abuja.
Tinubu extended heartfelt condolences to the Maduagwu’s family, Arise News management, and the entire Nigerian media community.
”Maduagwu was a promising professional journalist whose life was cut short in a cruel and condemnable manner.
”Security and law enforcement agencies should conduct a quick and thorough investigation into the incident and ensure that the perpetrators are apprehended and brought to justice without delay.”
Tinubu assured Nigerians that his administration remained committed to protecting lives and property, and would intensify efforts to combat all forms of crime across the country.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Maduagwu, 29, was killed early Monday during an armed robbery at her residence in Katampe, Abuja. The incident is currently under investigation by the Nigeria Police. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
