Coach Abdulrahman Gbadamosi of Sebioba FC, Ibadan, has expressed confidence in the Super Eagles ahead of Tuesday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Benin Republic in Uyo.
Gbadamosi told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Lagos that the Super Eagles possess the qualities to win and revive their qualification hopes.
“I believe the Super Eagles will get the job done against Benin Republic. It’s a crucial match, and the players know what’s at stake,” he said.
The coach urged the team to display hunger, unity, and composure, stressing that consistency and clinical finishing remain vital for their success.
“In football, consistency separates great teams from good ones. The players must now translate their quality into results. Every chance matters at this level,” he said.
Gbadamosi advised head coach Eric Chelle to employ a balanced strategy, blending attacking creativity with defensive organisation.
“Benin Republic are not to be underrated. They play with energy and confidence. Nigeria must defend well and take early control of the game,” he said.
He also appealed to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to maintain strong support for the team through improved welfare and logistics.
“At this stage, motivation is vital. Players perform better when they feel supported. The NFF must ensure proper preparation for the team,” he said.
Gbadamosi called on Nigerians to rally behind the Super Eagles, urging unity instead of criticism.
“We should all stand behind the team. Our support can lift their spirits. With unity and determination, Nigeria can still qualify for the World Cup,” he said.
He described World Cup qualification as a matter of national pride and a platform to showcase Nigeria’s football talent globally.
“The World Cup inspires the younger generation and promotes domestic football. The Super Eagles must give everything to be part of it,” he said.
Nigeria currently sit in Group C with South Africa, Benin Republic, Rwanda, Lesotho, and Zimbabwe. Only the group winners qualify automatically for the tournament.
A win against Benin Republic would boost Nigeria’s hopes, while a defeat could jeopardise their campaign. Fans are expected to throng Uyo, anticipating a spirited performance. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
