Mr Wang Genxiang, the Director, CIFAL Shanghai International Training Centre, on Tuesday said the development of high-tech industries could drive the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries.
Wang said this in Shanghai when he delivered a speech during the opening of a seminar on High-tech Industry and Innovative Development for participants from ”Belt and Road” countries.
He said by introducing new technologies, processes, and materials, traditional industries can achieve improved production efficiency, enhanced product quality, and reduced energy consumption.
“Simultaneously, the growth of high-tech industries can also give rise to a series of emerging sectors, injecting new vitality in the economic development,” he said.
Wang described technology as “the primary force, and innovation the primary driver leading development.’’
“With their high value added and high growth characteristics, high-tech industries have become a crucial engine for driving economic growth.
“As technology continues to break through and products constantly innovate, high-tech industries can create new market demands, stimulate the development of related industrial chains, and thereby promote the growth of the overall economy,” he said.
Wang, on behalf of CIFAL Shanghai International Training Centre, organisers of the seminar, welcomed the 31 participants from 11 countries to the training.

He said the seminar would offer the participants an exciting and professional experience “with our years of accumulated achievements in human resources training programmes.
The CIFAL Director added that the training would share insights on cutting-edge technologies, such as big datà, the Internet of Things, cloud computing, and Artificial Intelligence, as well as their integrated applications in the process of high-tech industry.
Responding on behalf of the participants in the seminar, Mr Atwooki Byaruhanga, the Assistant Commissioner of Technology, Department of Industrial Technology, Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives, Uganda, said it was an honour to be a beneficiary of the seminar.
He said that with the rapid development of technology, the high-tech industry had become an important driving force for global economic development.
“Through this seminar, we hope to learn from China’s experiences in the development of the high-tech industry.
“We believe that we can combine what we learn from the seminar with our practical work, allowing us to contribute to the development of the high-tech industry in our respective countries,” Byaruhanga said. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
