The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), FCT Command, has warned motorists against reckless behaviour, stunt driving, and acts of corruption during the 2025 Ember Months.

The FCT Sector Commander, Felix Theman, gave the warning on Monday in Abuja at the inauguration of the 2025 Ember Months Road Safety Sensitisation Campaign.

Theman said the ember months were often marked by increased vehicular movement, leading to traffic congestion and a rise in road crashes and fatalities.

He cautioned motorists against turning the roads into race tracks, a practice common among young riders who engage in stunt driving, describing it as dangerous and unacceptable.

“We will be vigilant against stunt driving, a risky behaviour where riders exploit reduced traffic conditions to turn streets into race tracks. Such behaviour will not be tolerated,” he said.

The sector commander reaffirmed the Corps’ zero-tolerance stance on bribery and other forms of misconduct.

He urged motorists to desist from inducing officers with bribes and to report any personnel who act unethically.

“You’re quite aware of our passion towards ensuring integrity in all our processes, including regular patrols.

“Motorists should stop inducing our men to accept bribes against tickets. And where our men make advances towards such, it should be reported to us,” he said.

Theman said that disciplinary actions would be taken in accordance with the FRSC Standing Orders on Discipline against any officer found culpable.

According to him, mobile courts will be a key enforcement strategy in sanctioning high-risk offences such as speeding, dangerous driving, and overloading.

“The Corps is committed to ensuring discipline, transparency, and professionalism in the discharge of its duties,” he said.

The sector commander noted that the FCT Command had mapped out high-traffic areas around motor parks and major entry and exit routes.

This, he said, included Zuba, Nyanya, Bwari, and Gwagwalada, for close monitoring during the festive period.

Theman also called on motorists to embrace personal responsibility in line with the campaign theme, “Take Responsibility for Your Safety.”

He expressed appreciation to the Minister of the FCT for supporting road maintenance efforts and ensuring that the roads remain conducive for travel.

Theman reiterated the Command’s commitment to promoting safe road culture and ensuring the protection of lives and property across the territory.
