The House of Representatives on Tuesday observed a one-minute silence in honour of the late son and grandson of the Senate Minority Leader, Sen. Abba Moro.
The solemn observance followed a motion by Rep. Philip Agbese (APC–Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo), during plenary presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu.
Members stood in silence and prayed for the repose of the souls of Victor Moro and his grandson, Abba Moro Jr.
Victor, the senator’s son, died in a motor accident on Oct. 18 along the Mararaba axis in Nasarawa.
His grandson, Abba Moro Jr., had passed away just days earlier.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Victor had recently returned from Turkey after completing his studies.
He was preparing to begin his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme before the accident.
In his letter to the Speaker dated Oct. 20, Agbese described the double tragedy as heartbreaking, noting that the incident had thrown the Moro family and Benue South Senatorial District into deep grief.
He said Sen. Moro was “a symbol of dedication and leadership,” saying the gesture by the House reflected compassion and solidarity with colleagues in times of personal loss. (NAN)
