The Lagos State Government has commended the organisers of Eko Fiesta for creating a platform that will promote culture and empower entrepreneurs across the state.
Mr Idris Aregbe, the Special Adviser to Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tourism, Arts and Culture, gave the commendation in a statement signed by the Media Co-ordinator of the fiesta, Mr Afolayan Adebiyi, on Thursday in Lagos.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the maiden edition of the fiesta, slated to hold from Dec. 22 to Dec. 24, is organised by Dosh and Wales Company in partnership with the Ministry.
Aregbe said the initiative closely aligned with the mission of the ministry, which included promoting tourism, creativity and culture, in ways that truly reflect the Lagos spirit.
He said Eko Fiesta was well structured, impactful and in time with the ministry’s values.
“What drew us in was the creative synergy, the way music, art, culture and commerce blend to tell a powerful Lagos story.
“That harmony perfectly reflects what we stand for,” he said.
Aregbe said that beyond entertainment, the event creates economic opportunities for small businesses and artisans.
“At the heart of every meaningful initiative is impact.
“We, at the ministry, believe an event shouldn’t just entertain; it should also empower.
“Eko Fiesta achieves this by giving entrepreneurs the space to connect with diverse audiences, improve their visibility and grow their businesses,” he said.
He added that by providing entrepreneurs with access to new and varied markets, the event directly strengthens the state’s creative economy and encourages sustainable growth.
“It’s a form of economic inclusion that brings the marketplace closer to the people,” he said.
Aregbe further commended the organisers, pledging the ministry’s support for creative projects that celebrate the state’s cultural identity.
The promoters of Eko Fiesta, Mr Damilare Osho and Dr Wale Oyebanji, said the event was designed to fill a gap in the city’s festive calendar.
“While Lagos, generally, in December is filled with concerts and parties, there’s been a gap for something that goes beyond entertainment – something that blends celebration with purpose.
“Eko Fiesta bridges that gap by creating a space where people can enjoy music, art and culture while discovering local brands, artisans and entrepreneurs.
“It’s not just about fun – it’s also about creating visibility for small businesses and giving attendees meaningful ways to connect with local culture and craftsmanship,” they said. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
