The International Centre for Diplomatic Studies (ICDS), Norway and United World Congress of Diplomats (UN-WCD) Canada, UK and Nigeria have stressed the need for foreign policy educational programmes.
The organisations disclosed this during signing of the MoU between President/CEO of ICDS, Norway, Dr Demostene Olariu and the Secretary-General/CEO of UN-WCD, Amb. Tunji Asaolu, in Abuja.
According to them, the MoU seeks to promote exchange of knowledge, leadership visit, educational exchange programmes, institutional facility tours and experiences in accordance with the legislation in force of both organisations.
They said that nothing in their agreement obliged any of the organisations to spend resources on legal or other assistance without having an allocated budget.
“Any modification or waiver of rights and obligations under this agreement shall be in writing and signed by both parties.
“Any modification of this collaboration contrast can be modified or carried out, only with the information of both signatory parties through an addendum.
“This agreement is the complete agreement between the two parties and supersedes all previous discussions regarding the subject matter of this agreement.
“It is governed by the laws applicable in both Norway, Canada, UK and Nigeria, and any dispute or misunderstanding that arises between the signatory parties will be settled amicably.
“Or by terminating the collaboration that will be made amicable without causing prejudice to one of the signatory parties, but with information through an additional document.”
The MoU focused on both parties’ agreement to explore and develop joint projects, research projects, developing, writing and implementing joint projects, products or services relevant to both parties.
It is also to foster ICDS-UN-WCD collaboration and communicate about it through online, social media and platforms, as well as in domestic and international media among other things.
According to them, education is the most powerful weapon that one can use to change the world.
“The purpose of this collaboration is to promote the exchange of knowledge, leadership visit and educational exchange programmes.
“Institutional facility tours, information and experiences in accordance with the legislation in force of both organisations, between the ICDS, Norway and UN-WCD in Canada, United Kingdom and Nigeria.
“To improve the performance of both parties in the development of education, exchange of experience, cultural exchanges, diplomacy and research in general,” they said. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
